Chloe's lab work came in this morning. Unfortunately, her all her kidney values are way up. At this point there is nothing more than can be done as far as medication. Her doctor did say that she looked good for as advanced as her kidney disease is. Chloe is a stubborn cuss, so hopefully she'll hang in there. We are just praying for the best and preparing for the worst. Once kidney function is lost, it can not be replaced. The best that can be done is to keep the values stable and until recently, Chloe was relatively stable since her stage four diagnosis in March of last year.
So basically, we have no idea how much longer we will have Chloe. Right now it's important to do the things that Chloe loves to do as long as she still loves to do them. It is heart wrenching to think of the difficult decisions ahead, but I can't stick my head in the sand and pretend everything is alright. It may sound callous to think this way, but it is inevitable and would be irresponsible of me to not be prepared.
On a positive note, I went through my picture box and found several photos of Chloe that brought terrific memories. Stay tuned for happy stories...
